11TH INTERNATIONAL FORUM "EUROPE WITH A VIEW TO THE FUTURE". PARLIAMENT OF WORD
The international debate included in the Cultural Programme of the Polish Presidency will reflect on the future of Europe and the condition of democracy. On 3 and 4 June, on the premises of the European Solidarity Centre (ESC) and the St John’s Centre in Gdansk, the 11th International Forum ‘Europe with a view of the future’. Parliament of Word will be held. The event will bring together intellectuals, artists, activists and representatives of European societies, ready to reflect together on the challenges of contemporary Europe. The guest list of the Forum includes, among others, Nobel Prize winner Olga Tokarczuk, Hong Kong-born American activist Samuel Chu, distinguished Ukrainian historian and journalist Prof. Andrii Portnov and Polish philosopher of culture Prof. Andrzej Leder. The event is organised by the National Centre for Culture Poland and the European Solidarity Centre. Registration for the event will open soon! The Forum’s participants will discuss the possibility of dialogue in a world torn by wars, the idea of solidarity, new definitions of freedom and social responsibility as well as various dimensions and challenges of modern democracy. In Gdańsk – the city in which the first actions of World War II took place, the nonviolent Solidarity movement was born, and in which today the European Solidarity Centre operates – the past is constantly in dialogue with the present, inspiring a responsible shaping of the future. The Forum will be accompanied by cultural events: on 3 June, the Polish Baltic Philharmonic will host a concert by Aga Zaryan and the Big Band Śląski, and a day later the ESC will host the ‘Sounding Europe. From Bach to Pärt’ concert performed by Marcin Masecki and Marcin Markowicz.
